Zara Shahjahan has been actively designing clothes since 2004, a graduate of National College of Arts (NCA) in Lahore she has established multiple designer labels. Her understated designs for Zara Shahjehan the fashion studio have been noticed internationally for their traditional timeless value. Her skills as a Miniature artist add to her understanding of runway fashion in both formal and casual wear.

Zara Shahjehan has premium fabrics along with artisanal embellishments that are hand made by craftsman experts in each specific embroidery tradition. They have hand made fabrics that are their blends carefully chosen from Pakistani fabric making traditions and the wider subcontinent. They proudly use these hand made fabrics to create luxury pret pieces and ready-made collections at an expensive price point.  

Hand Made Fabrics

These specialized techniques to make signature Zara Shahjehan fabrics is a celebration of South Asian culture and history. The ‘Indian Chanderi’ is a fabric produced by weaving in silk and golden Zari in the pure cotton yarn creates a shimmering texture or golden lines in the fabric. The Zari and Mukesh threadwork is a part of our history for generations, women have been creating motifs in the comfort of their homes or taking solid colour pieces of fabric to an expert craftsman to have a singular motif threaded into the fabric. The idea of creating unique necklines and intricately embroidered designs running along the daman or sleeves cuff is a vintage concept. 

The hand-woven jacquard fabric is another specialized line that is paired with jacquard dupattas and a cambric shalwar for the mid-summer collection by Zara Shahjehan. The breathable fabric quality is great for the hot temperate weather of Pakistan. The bandhini printed dupattas are in tissue silk and instantly transport the wearer into a simpler time of their grandparents, where less was more and quality over quantity was the norm in fashion.

The Zara Shahjehan fashion philosophy has feminine florals, muted tones with earthy texture, the neutral pastel spectrum of colours are used to showcase the threadwork and enhance the prints of the suit. The comfortable schiffli shalwar and printed chiffon floral dupattas are iconic of the Eid lawn collection by Zara Shahjehan. These designs have structured panel A-line shirts with architectural elements of jharokhas and archways decorated with bird motifs. The traditional silhouette of these designs are subtle and suit a wide age range of women, the base colours are carefully selected to coordinate with the gota, kamdani, zari and zardozi work.
