Google Chromecast is the easiest way to make a normal TV with an HDMI port into a smart TV, meaning you get connected to the same WiFi network as other devices which opens up a host of other options for you to make use of while using your laptop or smartphone as a remote control. Perhaps the more specific use is easy connectivity with Google devices, connecting to the Chrome internet browser of your computer or an Android-based phone. Even devices based on other Operating Systems can connect to the Chromecast. A newer version of these audio-only Chromecast's can stream high-quality audio with the option for multi-room playback which allows users to simultaneously play audio across multiple Chromecast Audio devices in different locations by grouping them together using the Google Home mobile app, a cheaper alternative to other systems like this which generally cost a lot more.

All Google Chromecast versions need a USB cable to power them while they stream, as most TVs now have USB inputs pretty close to the HDMI port this makes it simple. Plug the Chromecast into the HDMI and the power cable to a nearby USB port and you're ready to go. Despite the other such devices, Google Chromecast is still the most reliable and cheapest way to do what it does.
