This is one of the all in one machines that has a printer, a scanner and a photocopier combined into it. A printer with a sleek design made from a mix of glossy and matt finish black. On the front of this box-like printer is the touch-based control module. It has a small screen on which one can see the images they are about to print if the machine is not connected to a PC and is printing off the SD card it has a slot for.

There is also a slot for a USB so one can essentially print without a computer. It does, however, lack the wireless protocols such as Bluetooth, WiFi and NFC.

The Epson L850 is built with Epson's Piezo inkjet technology, which supports a resolution of 5,760×1,440dpi. It has 90 nozzles for black and 90 for the other colours, and can also vary the droplet size for better accuracy. The photo printing is amazing as it has 6 ink tanks instead of the general 4.

The print speed is also high, with black and white at 37ppm and colour at 38ppm. The sheet capacity is at a 100 for input and 50 for the output tray. 

The scanner has a max resolution of 1200dpi, even though 600 is ample for most use. The machine can save the images as jpegs and PDFs as well, to both the USB or SD card. It also has some onboard options for editing before printing. These include red-eye reduction, contrast, saturation, sharpness as well as filters such as B&W and sepia.

The Epson L850 has the Ink Tank System that yields a way larger number of prints in comparison to other cartridges. This works very well for smaller-scale offices or a home study. This all in one machine also takes up way less space compared to having these three functionalities in separate machines.
