Oppo Reno 6

If you are looking to spend a decent amount of money but not too much, the Oppo Reno 6 is a good choice. It has powerful specs and can handle most tasks, including higher-level mobile gaming. If dishing out for a flagship device is not what you are looking to do then this is a good option to pick.

The Reno 6 has a form factor similar to most devices from the era, slim with rounded edges and a very tiny punch hole for the selfie camera.

The performances base is the Qualcomm SM7125 Snapdragon 720G, a chipset made using the 8nm process. It is an octa-core architecture and puts out clock speeds of 2.3GHz. Integrated into this is the Adreno 618, a GPU that can take on a serious amount of visual processing so your gaming gets the boost it needs. This is also helped by the 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage which can be expanded via a microSDXC card if needed.

Speaking of gaming, the display has ample power to provide you a smooth experience as well. An AMOLED that has a resolution of 1080 x 2400, making it FullHD and a bit more. This provides crisp visuals for all your media and they are also smooth as the display has a refresh rate of 90Hz keeping things flowing seamlessly. The 6.4 inch display size is also a large enough viewing space for you to enjoy. Oppo has also provided it with more than ample power for the brightness, with 750 the peak nits it can push out and 400 at the lower end.

The overall performance is also aided by the Android 11 base, this OS has Machine Learning built into it. A feature that is great to help your device prime itself to your usage as it can learn your patterns. Layered onto that is Oppo's ColorOS 11.1, a user interface that has a lot more customisations than the base Android layer. Letting you personalise your experience with how you organise things.

Cameras

For the main module, Oppo has given the Reno 6 a quad-lens set-up. With the primary one at 64MP and the secondary at 8MP, this second one is the lens for ultrawide shots. The remaining two are both 2MP each, one is for macro shots and the other is for adding depth to images. With these lenses, one can get multiple shooting modes such as HDR, Pano, Bokeh and more. This side shoots video at 4K or 1080p, making for high-quality content.

The selfie camera is a 44MP one, with the ability to shoot video at 1080p. The video is stabilised by gyro-EIS so there is lesser shake when you are shooting.

Other features

Built with an accelerometer, a compass, a gyro and a proximity sensor for necessary feedback for all systems. There is also a fingerprint reader embedded into the display. Connectivity has the full gamut, including NFC which is used mostly for payment systems whereby your smartphone can be used as a debit card. Data standards go up to 4G and it also features DualSIM.

Porting includes a 3.5mm audio jack for wired headphones of AUX cables, a quick way to connect for media purposes. There is a USB Type-C port that is used to sync with a computer and is also the charging port.

The battery in this device is a decent size at 4310mAh, featuring Fast Charging as well so you can get your battery juiced a lot faster.

The Oppo Reno 6 is a good device if you are looking for something that has more power than needed by everyday users but at a price that is not too high. It is a mid-range device, but the price is relatively expensive as it is towards the higher side of that range.
