The XR is available at lower prices in Pakistan as compared to the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. To reduce the price, Apple removed a few features from iPhone XR. The phone's LCD does not support 3D Touch, but as a replacement, Apple has introduced a new Haptic Touch feature to provide haptic responses to certain gestures on the device. In place of Touch ID, the Apple iPhone XR uses the TrueDepth camera system that features more efficient and faster Face ID facial recognition for unlocking your device. The phone does not support a Home button and uses the swipe-based navigation system that was first introduced in the iPhone X.
It features a 6.1-inch "Liquid Retina" LCD display instead of the OLED screen, with a 1792 x 828 resolution that spans from top to bottom and edge to edge with minimum bezels. According to Apple, it is the most advanced LCD ever in a smartphone that supports 120Hz touch sensing, Tap to Wake, and wide colour. With an impressive colour accuracy, the XR also supports True Tone to set the white balance of the display according to the ambient lighting in the room. Like all other X-branded iPhones, the XR features a black front and has the same design as the iPhone X and iPhone XS but comes with slightly larger bezels and aluminium frame. With an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, the phone can be immersed in 1-meter deep water for up to 30 minutes. There are six colours to choose from including black, white, capri, yellow, coral and red.
With a 3GB RAM, the XR uses the smartest and most powerful chip ever used by iPhones before, the A12 Bionic chip processor built with a 7 nanometres process. It includes two performance cores which are 15% faster than the A11 and four efficiency cores up to 50% more efficient. The four-core GPU in the A12 is up to 50% faster than the A11.
Instead of the dual-lens camera system that is used by the more expensive iPhone XS models, the iPhone XR has a single-lens rear camera. To make it almost as functional as the dual-lens camera used by its counterparts, Apple has made software advances in XR. The 12 MP rear camera with f/1.8z 12-megapixel wide-angle lens with a 32% larger sensor gives rich and colourful results even in low lights. The camera also features optical image stabilization, improved True Tone Flash, and multiple focus pixels. At the front, the 7-megapixel TrueDepth camera is packed with all the features that are available in the more expensive iPhone XS, including Portrait Mode, Portrait Lighting, Depth Control, and more. The Portrait Mode lets you take DSLR-quality images with artful background blur that focuses the image on the subject, a feature previously limited to dual-lens cameras only. For a better blur, Advanced bokeh feature has been introduced in the XR. Apple also added the Depth Control function that lets you adjust the photo's depth of field after it's captured. The Smart HDR allows for more detailed highlights and shadows in all lighting situations.
The phone is available in three storage capacities: 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. The 2942 mAh battery lasts for an hour and a half longer than its predecessor iPhone 8. It gives 25 hours of talk time or 15 hours of internet use. It supports fast as well as Qi wireless charging. Internationally, iPhone XR supports dual SIMs through an eSIM and a Nano-SIM.
