Aside from q-tips, there are other options one can turn to for removing wax from their ears. The first being the Smart Swab which is a handle with a soft spiral at the tip end. There are a few different spirals available so the various ear sizes can be compensated for. The spiral is inserted into your ear and the handle is turned, this causes the wax to move along the spiral and out the ear. These spirals can be washed for use later.

There is an advantage with the Smart Swab in comparison to q-tips. One could easily hit their eardrum with the latter if they are not careful, this may not cause injury but it is a painful occurrence.

The other, more complex, ear wax removal tool is the ear vacuum. It has silicone tips along with it and one can choose the right one based on their ear. This works similar to a vacuum cleaner, sucking out the dirt; which in this case is the ear wax. THe silicone tips are washable so they can be reused.
