Description
Topaz is sold in carats, "ratti" or "tola" in Pakistan and India. As with all precious gems such as neelam, feroza, aqeeq, yaqoot etc, before planning to buy an original topaz stone jewellery, consult a learned Astrologer. They are experts who can tell you whether any gem will suit you or will prove to be dangerous. Astrologers suggest not wearing any less than 3.25 carats of Topaz to reap its spiritual benefits.
Topaz Stone Meaning
The name topaz is derived from the Greek word Topazios, that was the name of an ancient island in the Red Sea. Topazios island was famous for naturally occurring yellow stones and in those times any yellow coloured stones were named Topaz up till the classical times. The yellow stones that naturally occurred in the Topazios island are today known as chrysolite gemstone, a type of yellow olivine, that are not topaz at all.
Topaz Birthstone
Astrologers believe that wearing birthstones can give numerous health and spiritual benefits to the wearer. People born in November are said to be the perfect candidates for adorning original Topaz Stone (Pukhraj Pathar). Topaz is the birthstone of people born in November and wearing a Topaz stone ring or necklace can bring abundant wealth and prosperity to the wearer.
Topaz Stone Jewellery

Colours of Topaz Stone
Topaz is abundantly found all over the world especially Nigeria, Brazil, China, Sri Lanka, Africa, Japan Australia and the USA. The rarest Pink Topaz, which is also one of the Imperial Topaz stones or Precious Topaz stones is abundantly found in Russia and Pakistan. Topaz in its natural form is usually colourless, pale or brown but later on, it is treated to reveal brighter hues.
Topaz stone is available in a wide range of colours such as orange, blue, grey, brown, yellow, pink, violet, green, peach, champagne and red. Mystic Topaz is a rainbow-like gem that is a CVD (chemical vapours disposition) treated Topaz resulting in a rainbow vibrant glow. Though naturally occurring Topaz in its original form is the most desirable and also expensive, Mystic Topaz or other treated topaz stones are widely coveted for their affordability and exotic vibrance.
Most Valuable Topaz Stone Colour
The peach, pink, golden, orange-yellow, cognac or champagne-hued Topaz stones are considered the most valuable Topaz variety and are called the Imperial Topaz. Next in line comes the pinkish-red and orangish-red variety of Topaz. The richer and deeper the colour and reddish hues, the more value the Topaz will hold. Blue Topaz is one of the most commonly used for jewellery but the naturally occurring deep blue Topaz is extremely rare and costly.
Benefits of Topaz Stone
Astrologers believe that just like other precious gems, Topaz or Pukhraj brings many advantages. It soothes and heals the meridians of the body bringing them into perfect alignment. Topaz is the stone of truth and forgiveness. It brings abundance, joy, good health, generosity, love and good fortune. On the downside, just like other precious stones, it can result in multiple side effects if it doesn't suit the wearer and can prove to be very dangerous. That's why experts believe to test its effects before permanently wearing it to rule out any side effects.
