Safe & Healthy

Olpers was established by Engro Foods Ltd in 2006. Olpers treats raw milk with Ultra-high-temperature processing instead of pasteurization. It is also Homogenised & Standardised with 1 litre having 3.5% fat and 8.9%. As Ultra-Heat Treatment (UHT) heats the milk to 280 degrees Fahrenheit for a minimum of two seconds to kill harmful bacteria. This improves the shelf life to up to nine months as compared to the traditional pasteurization process. Pasteurizing as compared to UHT is a milder treatment to kill bacteria. It brings the milk to a specific temperature for a certain period of time kill off all bacteria. This treatment was created in 1968 to prevent diseases such as listeriosis, typhoid fever, tuberculosis, diphtheria, and brucellosis.

The debate of to substitute raw fresh milk with Tetra packaged milk has been controversial in Pakistan. This became a national concern in 2017 when the Punjab Food Authority scrutinised Olpers manufacturing facilities and product. Olpers was tested by a renowned scientific and technological research organization called Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR), ISO-17025 and Intertek approved the Ultra-Heat Treatment (UHT) used by Olpers as safe and pure. The milk's chemical, biological and physical quality were all given the seal of approval. The results from the laboratory tests approved and passed Olpersas quality milk sources that are safe and healthy for humans. Olpers also has inbuilt testing and quality checks certified with FSSC 22000, ISO 9000, ISO 14000, ISO 18000 and ISO 22000 ensuring Engro is an accredited company of high standards managing their manufacturing sites with safety and standards.

Packaging & Production 

It is sold in various kinds of packaging from soft to TetraPack which is a 1000ML carton which is shaped as a rectangular cuboid. Olpers Milk is available in 250Ml, 1.5Lt and 1Ltr along with larger cartons of 12 pieces of 1Ltr and 24 pieces of 250ML. The Ecolean packaging system used by Olpers is lightweight and secure to carry liquid foods. The milk has a shelf life of 3 months as it has no chemical preservatives to its formula. Olpers Milk is nutritious promoting wholesome nutritious milk. Olpers has over1600 milk collection centres all over Pakistan collecting high-quality raw milk for production. 27 stringent physiochemical tests are performed on the raw milk before it is sent for UHT processing.

Tips & Comments

It is not suitable for lactose intolerant children and adults. Olpers milk is not a substitute for breast milk and may contain soya lecithin. The milk has a higher ratio of calcium (mg) which will benefit bone generation and repair.
